Artist Statement

Rachel Monegue is a photographer who works in analog, using strictly black and white film to create silver gelatin prints. She graduated from the Maine College of Art, with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Photography in the spring of 2019.

Monegue is exploring the contradictory themes of love and hate, life and death, poverty vs wealth and curates her photographs to embody these dualities. By shooting with black and white film and utilizing heavy contrast she hopes to relate to the viewer the feeling of familiarity as well as tension.
